On a Speeding Ticket in Texas, If I do the deferred adjudication, do my insurance rates still go up?

Question by : On a Speeding Ticket in Texas, If I do the deferred adjudication, do my insurance rates still go up?
Yea this is my first speeding ticket. Doing 78 in a 65 in Hidalgo county. And I have read in multiple cases that I can do a defensive driving course and the fine is reduced and my insurance wont go up. I have also read that I can do deferred adjudication where as long as I pay the fine and don’t have another ticket within 3 months, that it is completely dropped from my record. But does it still affect my insurance rates if I go that route? Also, what kind of fine am I looking at for both the full and reduced options?

I don’t know the fine schedule in Hidalgo County but No – your insurance is not affected if you complete your deferred.

Can I apply for Deferred adjudication if I fight a speeding ticket in court and the cop SHOWS UP?

Question by Mr. Trump: Can I apply for Deferred adjudication if I fight a speeding ticket in court and the cop SHOWS UP?
This is the state for Maryland.

Got a speeding ticket for going 85 in a 65. Cop reduced it to 84 which lowered the ticket cost and the points.

I would rather try court and see if the cop doesn’t show. Then I get off scott free. However, if he shows up, I’m screwed.

I want to know if I can still apply for deferred adjudication AFTER going to court or while on trial?

I’m not concerned about the money, just my insurance. And I was speeding to pass… not to be wreckless.

There is no state law dictating when a prosecutor or judge offers deferred adjudication. That is up to them.

As far as hoping the officer doesn’t show, that is a myth. It does happen, but the percentage is quite low. My department gets a minimum of 2 hours overtime (some departments get 4) to appear in court. It is quite nice for me when I’m only there 5 minutes because the defendant changes his plea just because I show up.
